Celluma LED Light Therapy: What to Do in the First 48 Hours
By Posh Petals Spa | October 27, 2026
Beavercreek, OH | $70 Celluma session
Right after your 30-minute Celluma LED Light Therapy session, keep it simple: clean skin, light moisture, and no “spicy” products. In our Beavercreek treatment room, we see the best results when you avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids for 48 to 72 hours, skip heavy sweating for 24 hours, and wear sunscreen any time you’re heading outside. Most people have no downtime, but these small choices protect your glow.
Your first 24 hours after Celluma: keep heat, sweat, and hands off
Celluma red light therapy is gentle, but your skin can be a little more reactive right after. The goal for day one is to prevent extra irritation. That means keeping the treated area clean and leaving it alone.
Day-one rule: No sauna, no hot yoga, no intense cardio, and no pool time for at least 24 hours. Light walking is fine.
Cleanse and moisturize like you mean it
Use a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat dry. Follow with a light moisturizer that doesn’t sting. If you’re acne-prone or sensitive, this is not the time to “test” a new active serum. And don’t pick. Even if you notice a tiny bump or texture, hands-off usually calms things down faster.
Beavercreek humidity tip: sweat can be sneaky
In summer around Beavercreek, humidity makes it easy to sweat without trying. If you’re running errands near the Trebein and Dayton-Xenia Road corridor, keep a clean towel handy and blot instead of rubbing. Rubbing plus sweat is a common irritation combo.
48 to 72 hours: the “no actives” window that protects Celluma results
This is the part people forget. For the next two to three days, we generally recommend you avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids (AHAs and BHAs). If your routine includes benzoyl peroxide or stronger acne treatments, pause those too unless we’ve specifically told you otherwise.
Quick checklist for days 2 to 3: gentle cleanse, simple moisturizer, and sunscreen. That’s it.
Sun protection matters here in Beavercreek, even on “nice but not blazing” days. Treated skin can act touchier. If you’ll be outdoors, apply a broad-spectrum SPF and reapply when you’re outside for extended time.
The first week: how we keep glow, clarity, and calm going
Most people don’t peel or flake after Celluma. What you’ll usually notice instead is that “refreshed” look and calmer-feeling skin. A lot of our regulars talk about leaving with skin that feels clean, hydrated, and healthy-looking, and the home routine is a big reason that sticks.
A good sign: mild pinkness that fades within a few hours can be normal. The “not normal” signs are redness that keeps getting worse, blistering, or sharp, unexpected pain.
Makeup, sunscreen, and the “don’t smother it” rule
If your skin feels calm, you can usually wear makeup after your session. Keep it breathable and remove it gently at night. Sunscreen is non-negotiable. And if you’re prone to breakouts, avoid heavy occlusive layers for a couple days since that can trap sweat and oil.
Products we lean on after Celluma red light therapy (and one client favorite)
Think “support, ” not “attack.” After Celluma, we want your barrier happy. That usually means a gentle cleanser, a simple moisturizer, and SPF. If dryness is one of your big issues, hydration tends to make everything look better, faster.
“Dana’s customer service is second to NONE! … one of my all time favorites is the iS Clinical Reparative Moisture Emulsion! It has made my skin feel amazing. It moisturizes, hydrates and really absorbs in my face.”
one of our regulars
If you’re not using that exact moisturizer, no problem. The point is the texture: something that absorbs well, doesn’t burn, and leaves you comfortable. If your skin is sensitive or acne-prone, let us know what you’re using at home so we can steer you away from the stuff that tends to set you back.
If something feels “off, ” call us and we’ll talk it through
We’re big on education here. Our clients mention that we explain products as we go and help you keep your results going between visits. So if you’re unsure about your routine, ask. It’s always easier to adjust early than to push through irritation and hope it magically fixes itself.
Reach out the same day if you have blistering, unexpected pain, or redness that lasts into the next day and keeps getting worse. Call +19378251529 or email poshpetalsspa@gmail.com. If we need to see you, we’ll do our best to get you in that week.
We’re in a residential area in south-central Beavercreek near Brook Lynn Drive, close to the Trebein and Dayton-Xenia Road corridor, so a quick follow-up is usually easy for locals. These tips apply to our clients coming in from Beavercreek, Dayton, Fairborn, Xenia, Kettering, and Centerville too, especially if you’re balancing shift schedules at Wright-Patterson or classes at Wright State and need low-downtime care.
Ready for your next session? If Celluma is part of your plan for skin, pain, or hair restoration support, we’ll help you space visits in a way that fits your routine. You can also review our full services at Posh Petals Spa anytime.
